Meet our Grantees
Southside Harm Reduction Services provides supplies to reduce the spread of disease, distributes naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses, and refers people to health care, and social services.
Housing Referral Coordinator:
In my own words, Southside Harm Reduction helps marginalized people and disenfranchised people, people with substance abuse issues, get certain resources that they need in a way that’s not stigmatizing or objectifying.
So I’m the Housing Referral Coordinator. I do outreach three or four days a week and that entails me handing out bus tokens, safe-use supplies, I have connections to sleeping bags and tents and stuff like that. You know, it’s just extremely humble work and we don’t force anybody into anything, you know?
I have lived experience. I have over twelve years of being unhoused. I have three to four years of sobriety and loose sobriety and Southside Harm Reduction prioritizes the person with lived experience. And it’s given me an opportunity to give back in the most effective way that I can.
I love my work, you know, I like to do it as faceless as possible cause it’s humble work and it doesn’t need to be, nobody needs to become a superstar off of it.
